Duterte reports spending P371-M for campaign
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte spent more than P371 million in his campaign for the May 9 polls, according to his report to the Commission on Elections.
Duterte's camp filed his statement of contributions and expenditures at around 3 p.m. Wednesday, about two hours before deadline.
It showed that he spent a total of P371,461,480.23 for his nationwide campaign.
A bulk of his expenditures were funded by contributors. Duterte declared that he spent only P200,000 from personal funds or resources.
For his campaign, the incoming president received a total of P375,009,474.90 in contributions, broken down to P298,363,792 in cash and P76,705,682.90 in kind.
His running-mate, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, is listed as the biggest contributor in kind via tandem advertisements amounting to about P71.2 million.
Former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chief Francis Tolentino, a losing senatorial candidate, contributed as well via tandem ads, which came in at P3.14 million.
Meanwhile, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas was the only presidential candidate who missed the deadline for filing of expenditure reports.
Based on the presidential bets' SOCEs, Sen. Grace Poe spent the most in her campaign with P510.8 million.
She was followed by outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay (P463.3 million), Duterte, and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago (P74.6 million).
Roxas' running-mate, Vice President-elect Leni Robredo, filed her SOCE through her representatives at around 4 p.m.
Her SOCE showed that she spent the most in the six-way vice presidential race, with P418 million.
